I know of at least one state where their NG units are all being ordered to get to “72 hours” readiness (usually its 50%, with higher figures for MP and Civil Affairs units [disaster responders])— that includes combat units. And the units that normally cycle back in January and February are staying out... with the previously scheduled rotations getting deployed too.

If he smells weakness, which he will if Europe and the US decide to let him take Ukraine, and does NOT start ramping up industrial production of military equipment and supplies, which is what is needed to aid Ukraine and at the same time keep their own a@@es covered, he will go after Moldavia. Not a NATO country, after all. If he gets to eat Moldavia, then he concludes that NATO has no will to fight. And then, in his world view, he would have to be crazy NOT to attack a NATO country, and get back all the components of the old Czarist empire, because the West is a paper tiger.
On the other side, if Russia depletes its assets going after Ukraine with full-throated western support, China will smell weakness, and condition its further “help” of Russia on the return of Siberia, or simply retake Siberia if Russia is weakened enough, which was a part of Chinese empire until a few hundred years ago, and also refrain from taking Taiwan for the nonce, in case Trump wins, or to help keep him from winning, so that Xi will have an easier time taking Taiwan from idiot Dems. After the election, Xi might have more flexibility, or not.

It's possible that Putin will attack Moldova, and that would be bad for both Moldova and Russia, and indirectly the whole world. My guess is Putin knows that, but Russian politics (oligarchs) might convince him to go ahead.
Such a move would require very long supply lines, and unless the map of Ukraine changes dramatically, those lines would have to be partly over water. Therefore I don't think Russia under any relatively sane leader would do it while Ukraine is standing. NATO/US very likely would use greater numbers of, and more advanced, aircraft. Anti-Russia sentiment in the US and Europe would increase. I hope he, or any Russian head of state, chooses a wiser path.
It would have been wiser to just consolidate his hold on Crimea and the Eastern Provinces, declared victory, and called it quits. It would have been wiser to forget about reviving a deservedly-dead empire. But here we are, and we can’t go back and pretend he’s not doing to Ukraine on a larger scale what he encouraged Hamas to do to Israel on a smaller. Now the West is distracted by the goings on in my country, and Zelensky is learning to his sorrow about American attention spans. Ukraine can’t be abandoned, and not because of any silly-assed notions of democracy, but to avoid a world war.
Had Brandon not f@#$ed over Afghanistan and let Iran get ahold of oil revenues and sanction refunds, we would not have had this problem, not in Ukraine, nor in Israel, nor any worries about Taiwan or Moldova. Weakness and fecklessness have consequences.
I am not an expert on such things, but it sounds right. If Russia truly wanted to stop fighting, I don't see how our Russia haters could have stopped that from happening unless Ukraine wanted to continue the war. I don't know if it was Putin's own idea to be greedy or those mysterious members of the Russian deep state.
But I keep thinking of what happened in 1944. After the US captured the Mariana Islands and Japan was in range of B-29s, Tojo told his diplomat to make peace. The diplomat replied that it is easier to start a war than to end it.

In general I support providing defensive weapons. However, congress always ties that to pork here and in Ukraine, and policies that enslave us. I'll bet some of our congresscritters can't lift the bills they vote for. I can carry the Constitution in my pocket.
A lot of things to object to in the whole Ukraine issue and Brandon’s policy towards, but the right of every nation to be a nation without the leave of any autocrat with tanks and planes, or terrorists with suicide vests, is basic. It’s Declaration of Independence basic.
But Brandon is not the good guy here, any more than Putin is. They’re both playing games with human lives for nefarious purposes, and masking those purposes.

Some voters will believe it. Brandon will try the same play WRT Israel. Meanwhile Brandon’s invasion of the US continues. I see the Brandon gang (which will continue even if Brandon dies) as a bigger threat than Putin, but we can’t ignore either.
