Mt Marapi is pretty close to that other famous eruption in the Sunda Strait, better known as Krakatoa.
I am watching the video now. A lot of confusion. According to the map, it looks like Pinatubo is about 25 miles west of Clark Air Base, and about 45 miles north of Subic Naval Base, at Olongapo. There were, of course, other factors, in the decision to close Clark Air Base, but one of the biggest reasons Clark closed, was because of Pinatubo. The Air Force two star, ordered the evacuation of Clark Air Base, and all the USAF aircraft, were flown out of Clark, though I don’t know where they went. Maybe Taiwan, Korea, or Okinawa. I just don’t know. Now, the former Clark Air Base, (still called Clark) is a bustling business park, and is being used as an international airport. If we want to visit friends in Angeles City, we fly directly to Clark and bypass that nightmarish place called Manila. I was in Manila a couple of months ago. I couldn’t wait to leave.

Griffis Air Base is also now a business park, although the runways are still used and on occasion there are still planes doing military exercises on them.
