Ellie Owens, her husband, and three young children left Connecticut for Copenhagen in 2022.
They moved for work, but have stayed partly because they've found that the experience of raising young children is superior, and cheaper, in Denmark's capital.
"Daycare is astronomically cheaper here," Owens told Business Insider in October. "We were paying for my oldest to go three mornings a week to daycare in the US, and we were paying $2,600 a month. And here, I pay around $850 — maybe — for two children to get full-time care."

Let’s see how much longer the good times last over there when they have to pay 5x more for energy.
“If it’s so great renounce your US citizenship today.”
Can’t say I’d blame them if they did, particularly if the Democrats complete their Fascist takeover in 2024.
But Europe is no panacea either, as they’re dead men walking due to cutting off their super-cheap energy from Russia, due to the Neocon War in Ukraine.
You seem to really have it out for people who moved to Europe, like it there and complain about the USA. That’s twice in two days. It’s weird that “Business Insider” is pushing these articles.
I always wonder how these stories come about. Did the editor tell the reporter “Go find me a human interest story about people who moved to Europe, love it there, and now hate the USA”? How does the reporter dig up these people? Looking for complainers on social media? What’s the ulterior motive of Business Insider? Why are they even publishing these hit pieces? Pushing for fully socialized medicine in the USA? Pushing to ban automobiles here?
For some reason, “Gilded Cage” comes to mind.
One-bedroom apartment size: 554.34 square feet
One-bedroom average price per month: $1,518.47
Price per square foot: $2.74
Raising 3 kids in a 554.34 square foot apartment sounds like it could be a lot of fun!

there’s one born every minute...
What at my job like to talk about moving to Europe? I’m trying to get ammo to shut them up
Are the kids being taken care of by third-world nannies?
There is no free lunch. If daycare in Copenhagen is so cheap, someone else must be helping to pay the bill. Could it be the Danish taxpayers?
1967: Denmark’s value-added tax was 10%.
1992: Denmark’s value-added tax was 25%.
I hate the speaker on my phone. People at my job and talk about moving to Europe. Trying to get ammo to shut them up
Indeed, Democrats have not built a “Berlin Wall” in the USA - not yet anyway.
If you want to live in Denmark - please go.
Our neighbors were all hot on buying a gorgeous estate in Tuscany and raising olives and grapes. They had a short list with beautiful properties. Their daughter stayed in Florence to attend a culinary school and she got absolutely fed up with all the Italian machismo, catcalls, fanny pats, pinches, etc that she said there was NO WAY she was going to move to Italy. So the family cancelled their Italian plans.
Sometimes there’s a poor cultural fit.
LOL...maybe the third time will be a charm? I think you meant to type “I hate the KEYPAD on my phone.”
I know what you mean, My fingertips are bigger than the tiny keys and it’s just about impossible to type on the phone.
If any Democrat wants to move to their socialist heaven in Europe, please do. Those of you that need a few dollars for the mover should ask for help. I’m sure someone that works for a living will.
Screw Europe! It has brought such greats as Mussolini,Stalin, and Hitler to the world stage.
This is what I don’t understand about “universal child care”.
There is (approximately) one adult female per adult male. If every adult female needs free or “affordable” child care from another woman, are there not women who must do without?
“One-bedroom apartment size: 554.34 square feet”
Lol.
A few years back we had someone from Madrid visit our house.
It is a small house by US standards and nothing fancy—but we do have many acres of land and are totally isolated from neighbors.
They were in a state of shock.
“You are rich” they said.
“Nope” we said.
They didn’t believe us.
Pretty cool until Dhimmi-hood is no longer just a choice.
sure its a great place,,,,if you think the world owes you a living, are lazy and wait for others to help you with life, its magical....
