If wimpy peace creeps say that’s harsh then consider the alternative:
like death row inmates who escape from prison,
thugs let out on bail or with no bail
and juvenile offenders who reach age 18 and get out-——
they will only kill more innocent victims if they are spared.
These “leaders” targeted babies, children and adults whose “crime” was being Jewish. Not combatants in uniform or armies facing them in a battle. Home invasions.

I think that's what they want to put in their heads. That when the current war is over, it's not over.
You might be familiar with Dietrich Hugo Hermann von Choltitz, a prominent German General. Served in WWI, the invasion of Poland, of the Netherlands, on the Eastern Front, then to Italy, a corps commander on and after DDay, and his final command, Military Governor of Paris. He claimed his surrender of Paris rather than it's destruction was due to the war being lost and Hitler being insane. But I'd speculate somewhere in his sophisticated mind there were thoughts of post war allied actions. He later admitted to ordering the liquidation of Jews, but was never charged with war crimes. Which wouldn't have been difficult to unearth. IMO the destruction of Paris would have sealed his fate. A comment of his supposedly made in 1944, I'm skeptical since at that time he was a POW, but even if self serving it bears consideration.
We all share the guilt. We went along with everything, and we half-took the Nazis seriously, instead of saying "to Hell with you and your stupid nonsense". I misled my soldiers into believing this rubbish. I feel utterly ashamed of myself. Perhaps we bear even more guilt than these uneducated animals. (An apparent reference to Hitler and his supporting Nazi Party members.)

A favorite cell phone story, when the NY Times broke a story that we were able to track cell phone locations in Afghanistan. On hearing that Osama is said to given a driver his cell phone and ordered him off in one direction, had his driver take him in the opposite direction.

Underlings will step up to take the leadership positions of the martyrs who are taken out. Islam has no shortage of underlings.

My guess right now the price is for intelligence. The location of the top leaders in Gaza would be at the top of the list.
