Could Barton Springs be renamed?
KXAN ^ | 11/29/23 | Sam Stark

I think at some point, all of us started referring to [Barton] spring as ‘The Spring,’” said Pedro Villalobos, Chair of the Parks and Recreation Board. “That’s because of the baggage that it carries with it.”

We are recommending based off of William Barton’s known ownership of enslaved people – and given the Confederate Monument Resolution passed by City Council – we are recommending that there be an effort to rename Barton Springs,” Villalobos, who served on the working group, continued.

William Barton was known as someone who wanted to participate in the extinction of Native Americans,” Marshall said in May. “And the fact that he enslaved people, we just want to make sure that that’s known as well,” she said.

Peter Wolf Village?

Don’t wolves catcall and whistle at women in the village? He must be a real filthy sexist and misogynist denigrating women like that.

Barton Springs is in Travis County, which is named after William Travis a slave owner.

Barton Springs is in the city of Austin named after Stephen Austin, a slave owner.

As a resident of Austin, I can say that we have a high idiot quotient.

This might work.

At least until we find out how many slaves Annie Green owned.

How about Brandon Falls Stonewall Bath House in honor of the Stonewall riot site?

So....when do the statues of Sherman and things named after him come down? He was genocidal toward the Plains Indians and made several statements to that effect.

Oh, and he also hated Blacks and Mexicans and Jews. Indeed he was a big influence behind Grants infamous General order #11 which called for Jews to be ethnically cleansed from 3 states.

Oh wait! I forgot. The Left is entirely selective in its “outrage”.

Same BS in Minnesota . One of the Minneapolis lakes was named Calhoun and the woke crowd was certain it was named after Clvil War secessionist and slave holder South Carolina Senator Calhoun. The lake was renamed a barely pronounceable Lakota name, Bde Maka Ska. Turns out the lake was named after a "Lieutenant Calhoun" with the U.S. Army.

The Lakota…. You mean the people with 85% unemployment, 40% alcoholism, 85% rate of adult obesity and ~10% lifetime suicide rate? Those Lakota? Naming a lake in their name will cure all of that. Best thing that could happen is disband the miserable Rez and its culture. They got a raw deal for sure, but they’re a conquered people.
