Arizona officials who refused to canvass election results indicted by grand jury

PHOENIX (AP) — Officials in a rural Arizona county who delayed canvassing the 2022 general election results have been criminally charged, the state’s top prosecutor said Wednesday.

A grand jury in Maricopa County Superior Court has indicted Cochise County supervisors Peggy Judd and Tom Crosby on one count each of conspiracy and interference of an election officer.

“The repeated attempts to undermine our democracy are unacceptable,” Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes, a Democrat, said in a statement. “I took an oath to uphold the rule of law, and my office will continue to enforce Arizona’s elections laws and support our election officials as they carry out the duties and responsibilities of their offices.”

Dennis Wilenchik, an attorney for Crosby, called the indictment “nothing but political partisanship.” In a statement, he promised a vigorous defense for what he called baseless charges. Judd did not respond to requests via text and email for comment.

I hope you’re not talking about Peggy Judd or Tom Crosby.

How can a grand jury in Maricopa County indict the election board for action in Cochise County? It appears completely unconstitutional.

It's called political corruption.

Maricopa County is predominately conservative but the Phoenix area that they drew the Grand Jury jurors is a corrupt Leftist Democrat cesspool and Democrats control the courts so cherry picking an anti Trump kangaroo court jury is a slam dunk.

Cochise County is heavily Republican. The two Republican County officials refused to certify that Trump won Cochise County by a near landslide.

For some reason a lot of Freepers seem to think the two officials were refusing to certify the statewide election. They were just refusing to certify Cochise County results where Republicans racked up big margins up and down the ticket, and beat the hell out of Dems.

The two officials said they didn’t trust voting machine results. If there was something wrong with the ballot count, they should be able to prove it in court, so no problem.

On the other hand, if they don’t have proof of ballot count problems in Cochise County, why didn’t they certify? The election officials in Cochise County had already certified the vote was legit. These were two Cochise County Supervisors, which I believe are what most folks think of as County Commissioners. So go ahead and prove the vote was wrong and that the Cochise County election officials were wrong.

You misrepresent what the Cochise County Supervisors were saying. They said that there were claims of not properly certified voting equipment in the county and that they wanted more time to review the claims.

There should be no need in this case for them prove that "there was something wrong with the ballot count". They only need to prove that there was a reasonable doubt and that they need more time to review.
