Imagine there's no heaven/sigh
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us, only sky
Imagine all the people
Livin' for today
AhImagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion, tooImagine all the people
Livin' life in peace
YouYou may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as oneImagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of manImagine all the people
Sharing all the world
YouYou may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one
This ranks right up there with The Leonard Cohen song, Hallelujah about King David's adultery with Bathsheba and the subsequent murder in battle of Bathsheba's husband, Uriah the Hittite.
Just because a song had the word Imagine or Hallelujah in the title doesn't mean it isn't sacrilege.
And yes, they played Hallelujah at my s-in-l's father's funeral service.
Leonard Cohen was Jewish so how does his song get certified kosher for a Christian funeral service, especially a Baptist funeral service?
At least the Leonard Cohen song had some Biblical reference. The John Lennon song titled Imagine clearly antibibical and effectively a Communist anthem. Imagine has no place in a supposedly Christian memorial service.
