The United States of America is funding both sides of this war and the Israel/Palestinian war.
The problem with Iran is that its now closely aligned with Russia & China who would provide assistance to them just as the US armed Ukraine. Iran has also made great strides in missile technology and it would be impossible to take them out without them causing extreme damage to Israel with their supersonic missiles (and they just acquired additional tech from Russia making these missiles more maneuverable and harder to intercept). If Iran becomes involved were most likely looking at WW3.
The US doesn’t have the military assets in place to take on Iran (and their allies) and it would take a good 6-8 months for us to get these military assets in place. Iran would mine the Straits of Homuz closing the Persian Gulf and Egypt could proceed to shut down the Suez canal (after the Egyptian people overthrow Gen Sisi) causing Western economies to crash. Put simply taking out Iran is going to be a lot harder than people realize.
