Carter is up there, no doubt. But I still put George W. Bush firmly at #1. Right after 9/11, Bush had a unique (and righteous) opportunity to crush radical Islam. The entire West was with him.
Bush could have crushed radical Islam just as FDR crushed Imperial Japan. But, no. Bush instead chose to “nation build” while pandering to Islamists everywhere. This mistake will haunt the United States and the entire West for generations.
If Bush II isn’t the worst president in US history, he’s certainly in the running.
