It’s funny because the family I know who moved there from NYC were dirt poor. The father contracted polio, and they grew up on welfare, three children and a mother. The church (local parish) purchased the house and let them remain until the kids were grown, taking welfare housing allowance for rent. The youngest son, who was always in minor scrapes with the cops, knocked up his 16 year old girlfriend but married her when she was 17. The whole family, sister, two brothers, and mother, individually moved to Vermont over the next several years. (And their grandmother.)

They were all self-supporting. The sister became a lawyer, the youngest son has acquired an engineering degree, and is still married to the same women, going on 45 years now. The oldest son, a Vietnam vet, retired from Dartmouth, where he was a lab technician and has a side hustle building custom bicycles. The mother married a farmer, but has since passed away.

All fine people. I know the sister was wicked liberal, but am not sure about their politics otherwise. But they are fine people and fine citizens.

Yes, good people up there. Many farmers out in the country but a lot of old money kids (think Rockefeller) and they’re very liberal. Remember when Jack McMullan(R)ran for Senate up there and they ran a dairy farmer against him who had a $16 campaign budget. Of course McMullan never had a chance. Only a handful of conservatives up there.

FTA:

“where we’re told they’re being treated for non-fatal wounds.”

Treatment of fatal wounds takes time and energy.

Well, bleeding is easier to control when the victim has no pulse.

Update: Victims were shot with a .380, recently purchased by suspect. Feds have already matched shell casings at the scene with a .380 recovered from suspect’s apartment (can they work that fast? Gun was seized at 9:30 last night).

The one odd thing (so far) is, if this guy lost it because 3 Palestinians speaking Arabic and wearing keffiyahs were walking past his house, snapped, and ran out to exact justice against Hamas - why did he recently purchase the gun used to do the shooting?

Either a coincidence, some kind of planning ahead of time (how was that possible), or he’s been “on the radar” and he got it from one of his “friends” in DC.

They are flogging “gun violence” pretty hard at the press conference, although TBH the mayor is a long-time grabber (never let a crisis go to waste).
