Those aren't ashes....it's a bruise they intentionally get by banging their heads against a beam so it looks like they've prayed a lot.

And yes the bruised one is the one that is no more.....

That’s not ashes. It’s a callous muslims develop from kneeling in prayer. Forgot to add the fabric softener to his prayer rug.
