Long-range weapons, homemade silencers, thousands of rounds of ammo, untraceable firearms and a miniature cannon were seized during the execution of a search warrant Monday in Pinehurst.
In total, 18 firearms were seized by the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office with support from the Pinehurst Police Department and assistance from the local tactical medical unit.
"This is the largest gun seizure we are aware of for the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office," the sheriff's office reported on social media.
Shoshone County Sheriff's Capt. Seth Green said gunpowder, fentanyl and methamphetamine were also seized during the Silver Valley Task Force search, along with the arsenal of firearms.
“The mini cannon, it actually works," Green said. "That’s a first for me."
Michael William Luma, 46, of Pinehurst, was arrested and charged with felony unlawful possession of firearms, two counts of possession of a controlled substance schedule II and possession of paraphernalia related to a controlled substance.
The untraceable firearms seized are something the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives refers to as “ghost guns.” According to a 2022 Department of Justice memo through the BATF, ghost guns are unserialized, untraceable handguns and assault-style weapons. Tools for creating the ghost guns were also recovered at the site.
The Silver Valley Task Force determined that evidence at the scene suggested the firearms had been fired out of the residence toward other houses in the community. Law enforcement personnel were grateful the search warrant was executed safely for all involved.
The Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office made a statement saying it is pro-Second Amendment rights, but will enforce cases involving a felony possession of firearms.

If they need someone to take a few off their hands, I could put them to good use.
What, is the Harbor Freight mini mill considered contraband now as well?
I woould like that Remington 760
Sounds like a meathead methhead that needed to be taken in, if only for shooting at his neighbors.
The actual collection is quite modest, despite the inflammatory language (”assault-style”). Nowadays everyone has AR-15s. 80% receivers are still legal, too, AFAIK.
The homemade suppressors are an issue with the feds if not properly papered.
The last photo seems to imply that the LE guys are shopping for their own collections. 😁
That looks like what any real Idahoan keeps in his bedroom.
Looks like Burt Gummer’s rec room.
Big deal. Many here have that in one gun safe alone.
That doesn’t pass the smell test.
Shooting at the neighbors houses.........nothing in the story says anything about hitting the neighbors houses. Was he really shooting at the houses, or just in the general direction? How far away were these houses.......15 miles?
Question answered. ......evidence at the scene suggested the firearms had been fired out of the residence toward other houses in the community.
The arrestee was not actually shooting at other houses, but in the general direction. Note that the story does not mention any charges about endangering anybody with gunfire.
Jeez - I lost more than that in the boating accident I had a while back...
“assault-style weapons”
What I want to know is when will the ATF do something about Gangnam Style weapons?
In Tennessee, Arkansas and Texas that collection would be in the "novice" category. I know of a couple of collections that have M1918 machine guns and the ammo and belts to keep them going for days.
You are seeing a Remington pump action rifle?
what one.
The “cannon” cracks me up. It’s a good Fourth of July BOOM! maker, nothing else. The author and SCSO seem to think it’s a real terror / mass murder device.
Yes, the authoress managed to turn a basic drug bust story into histrionics about guns. They claim the person arrested is a “gang member” but they don’t elaborate. They don’t explain why these were feloniously possessed, either (I suspect the owner is a felon). The SCSO Facebook page says some were fully auto guns.
In HS machine class they were a common machining project.
A single firearm is enough to give some people the vapors.
More than 10 needs a code cart!
“That looks like what any real Idahoan keeps in his bedroom.”
LOL...I knew somebody would come up with that!
Looks like an assault cannon.
