Hawaii is about $0.55 per kWh.
Democrats, is the only explanation.
“Charging units at your home are not cheap, either.”
Some manufactures are giving them with the car.
You can buy a level 2 charger for $200.
FP&L Will install one and give you unlimited charging for $43 a month. A 30 mpg car going 1000 miles would cost $100 a month. If you use your charger it is $33 a month.

“Studies show that EV’s cost more to run that ice vehicles.”
Studies show that EV’s cost less to run that ice vehicles.
Not for the EV OWNER. For them, it is significantly cheaper. Car & Driver has done several multi-year comparisons on EV vs ICE, in some cases the same brand/model. Much of the EV expense is transferred to others, via local/state/federal government subsidies and tax credits. Even the power and charging stations are typically subsidized. Here in San Diego (with the most expensive electricity in the country), off peak EV charging is a ridiculously cheap 6¢/kwh. Those who work for an employer with free charging have it even better.
For you and I, EVs are very expensive. You and I pay for them without actually owning them. For the EV owner, they are cheap. Of course this has nothing to do with the limitations of EVs. They are terrible for long range travel, where you have to carefully plan your route, including stops to charge, waiting for a charger, making sure there is a backup in case your chosen charger is down, paying a higher rate, longer travel time, etc. Range and charge rate are significant problems. Towing is extremely limited, and even putting 4 adults and luggage in an EV greatly decreases range. Basically, they are good for commuting and local travel - because other people are paying for them. And in some cases, you get "super car" performance for a "grocery getter" price.
“Towing is extremely limited, and even putting 4 adults and luggage in an EV greatly decreases range.”
Most companies now use flatbeds due to the variety of cars. Also, because they are better for removing cars from accidents.
Four adults and luggage will not greatly decrease range.
” They are terrible for long range travel, “
Terrible? Nope.
I just straightened my neighbor out a couple months ago, his bill was $900 every month. They put everyone in to “Time of Use” billing and require you to call and file paperwork to opt out and go back to “Standard” billing.
Time of Use billing rate is TRIPLE that of the same home on Standard billing rates
LOL! I’m sure you’re right. They’ll be leaving in the DARK. ;)
$32.20 more a month for gas and electric.. can’t wait NOT
“even putting 4 adults and luggage in an EV greatly decreases range.”
Worse for ICE cars:
1. It will have a smaller effect than on an ICE car because the increase in weight is a smaller percentage.
2. Weight has very little impact on level highway driving.
3. EV regenerative braking recovers most of the energy used to accelerate or climb hills. For ICE cars it is all lost.
“Charging units at your home are not cheap, either.”
PG&E (CA) will give you one free.
Not if you shift kwhrs to off-peak.
