That would be my first thought...collect roof runoff in a diversion from the gutters (or guitar, for those of you in Rio Linda), and have it fill some kind of tank in the garage. The problem, of course, for much of California is that it’s dry for 6 months, so during those months life would be difficult...and apartment and Section 8 types would be out of luck, of course.
