Yep. My folks were in the hospital for cirrhosis of the liver. My dad died. When we told mom she shut down completely and died a week later. They were not even old. Mid 50s.

My wife’s cousin was was having medical problems and found himself in a nursing home. While there, his wife was discover to have stage-four cancer. They shared a room for a few weeks in the same facility holding each other’s hands. She died and he was gone within a couple of weeks. He actually said he no longer wanted to live.
