Are these innocent civilians or simply unarmed HAMAS supporters? If the latter, they deserve death just as much as the armed HAMAS members. And if they drag their kids with them, that’s on them, not the Israelis or anyone else.
One can not be for sure. Hamas is an oppressive regime then again the case in 2006 - women provided human shields voluntarily.

HAMAS MILITANTS FLEE GAZA MOSQUE AIDED BY WOMEN
BY RICHARD BOUDREAUX AND RUSHDI ABU ALOUF

SPECIAL TO THE TIMES
GAZA CITY —
About 200 Palestinian women broke through an Israeli troop and tank cordon around a mosque Friday to serve as human shields, allowing dozens of armed militants to flee an Israeli siege, but only after two of the women were killed.
Answering a call from the Hamas radio station, the women took to the streets in a mass public intervention of a kind rarely seen in this conservative Muslim society. They carried extra robes and veils with them to disguise some of the militants holed up in the mosque.

Palestinian women in Gaza help free besieged gunmen; 17 killed in Israeli offensive
By YAKUB RALWAH, Associated Press
2006/11/04 07:07
Hundreds of Palestinian women in robes and head scarves streamed into a Gaza combat zone to help free gunmen besieged by Israeli troops at a mosque. Two women who came under fire were killed and at least 10 were wounded, but some gunmen managed to escape.
The women, many with ties to the Islamic militant group Hamas, left their homes after daybreak Friday in response to appeals on the local Hamas radio station or telephone calls from friends and relatives. By nightfall, they were celebrated as heroes, an unusual role in a deeply conservative society that tends to keep women on the sidelines. Until Friday...

According to the poll being bandied around various “sources”, 75% chance the civilians support Hamas attacking Israel on 10/7. Whether said 75% support the brutality is less certain, as the poll question was dishonestly worded to make the attack sound like a military attack, not a slaughter of civilians. But OTOH, I find it hard to believe most Palestinians do not know by now the true natue of the attack.
Granted that my own normalcy bias may color my judgement.
