On the other end, the Navy will issue a stop loss order, meaning that service members approaching their expiration of active service (EAS) will be involuntarily retained on active duty. [Enlisted personnel typically sign an 8-year service contract, with four years of active duty and four years of inactive reserve status, subject to recall. At their discretion, the Navy will adjust that 4/4 split and add more active time. It’s all a real morale builder. /sarc]

That'll work for a while. But 5-10 years from now, we'll be back to where we are today.
