Netanyahu refuses to answer CNN on whether he would take responsibility for October 7 attack

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday refused to answer whether he would take responsibility for failing to prevent the October 7 attack on Israel, saying that there would be time for such “difficult” questions once the war is over.

In an interview with CNN’s Dana Bash, Netanyahu acknowledged that it is “a question that needs to be asked,” but that the country for now needs to unite around the goal of defeating Hamas – the militant group that controls Gaza and and launched the assault on Israel.

“We’re going to answer all these questions,” the prime minister said, adding that, “Right now, I think what we have to do is unite the country for one purpose; to achieve victory.”

“Let’s focus on victory – that’s my responsibility now.”

Netanyahu has been criticized for failing to anticipate the deadliest attack on Israel since the country’s founding in 1948, when Hamas militants killed more than 1,200 people and took more than 200 hostages last month, according to Israeli authorities.

One theory I've seen is that Netanyahu allowed Hamas to build up to where they are today because Hamas is clear that they don't want a two-party state.

PLO claimed to be in favor of a two party state (even though they're not).

But Netanyahu screwed up. He didn't expect Hamas to grow this powerful in a short period of time.

>> Nice victim blaming there, CNN. Total scum.

I have recurring daydreams of a sinkhole opening in Atlanta in the ground beneath the CNN Center. The sinkhole beneath the CNN HQ building widens into a yawning cavern... the building shudders and shakes as in an earthquake but remains upright. When the sinkhole widens enough, it leisurely swallows the entire damned building, until the top is a hundred feet below ground. Then that yawning sinkhole closes and heals right before my eyes... a grassy, tree covered park replaces the evil center, the sun shines brightly, birds sing lustily in the trees...

on even-numbered days I have the same daydream about the NYT building in NYC or the WaPo building in DC.

:-)

This horrible thing happened amidst the backdrop of many in Israel in the intelligence community angry with Netanyahu over the judicial reform plans.

Some were dragging their feet on their work.

The biggest mouth against Netanyahu and he still is during the war former Prime Minister Ehud Barak.

Barak installed as PM with the help of Paul Begala the Clinton political operative late in the second Clinton term to accomplish the deal with Arafat that did not happen.

And yes Ehud Barak also linked to the one and only Jeffrey Epstein.

I don't know enough about the judicial reform plans to be objective about it. But from what little I know, the whole process is corrupt. The way they appoint judges is ridiculous so reform was necessary.

But there were massive protests over it. That part, I do not get.

A well-organized effort and who in the heck was behind that the Deep State Intelligence Regime Change Apparatus?

Ehud Barak and his ilk are not benign they are connected to something like I said Ehud Barak was connected to Clinton and Epstein.

Good question about Ehud Barak’s intentions. Most of the leaders in Israel were woke. And idealistic. They want to believe that you can negotiate with the Arabs. We know that’s not happening. Bibi gets it. So did Golda Meir. And of course, David Ben-Gurion. But everyone else, it appeared to me that they tried to appease the Arabs. At a great cost.

So we see CNN's twisted bias against Israel. Recently CNN did a number of interviews of survivors of the Hamas massacre of October 7. A reasonable person would be concerned that the purpose of such interviews would be to make future massacres more complete.

I don't know if our leaders believe in it anymore. They may say it just to appease the "Arab Street".

Trump had his “Deal of the Century” which reminds us that money and business are important to the Saudis-Gulf Arabs and the right deal with Israel may include Palestinians as the cheap labor but that’s about it.

It’s a crying shame that you weren’t in charge of IDF instead of Netanyahu. You would have nipped this whole thing right in the bud! Right? Arm chair general hardspunned, has a nice ring to it.

Bibi is the captain of the ship, and he failed.

Israel isn't a large country. The lack of active patrolling along the gaza border was grossly incompetent, unacceptable and entirely on the leader of Israel. Simple patrolling would fix any intelligence failures. They had zero. The response time to enemy forces was a failure, and basic security aspects and the settlement outposts failed.

This a entire failure from top to bottom. There was no reason why these communes couldn't have been more prepared.

Bibi will have to answer that after the war in Gaza ends.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday refused to answer whether he would take responsibility for failing to prevent the October 7 attack on Israel, saying that there would be time for such “difficult” questions once the war is over.

Not, he did answer the question, with "not yet."

Definitions from Oxford Languages:
noun
a thing said, written, or done to deal with or as a reaction to a question, statement, or situation.
verb
1. say or write something to deal with or as a reaction to someone or something.
2. act in reaction to (a sound such as a phone ringing or a knock or ring on a door).
CNN refused to accept an answer as an answer

I’m quite sure that Israelis have had enough of him but won’t make waves till the war is over. I know more the a few, and at least half are Likud-ites. They’re pissed with all the political and military leadership, but at least the generals have owned up to their deficiencies.

After Fury, Netanyahu Deletes, Apologizes for Post Blaming Security Chiefs for Hamas Attack
Oct 29, 2023

Facing a barrage of criticism, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu deleted a controversial social media post on Sunday in which he blamed the defense and intelligence establishment for giving him faulty assessments before the deadly Hamas attack on October 7.

The prime minister then published a new tweet. “I was wrong,” he wrote, adding that “the things I said following the press conference should not have been said, and I apologize for that. I fully support the heads of [Israel’s] security services.”
