MIT faces backlash for not expelling anti-Israel protesters over 'visa issues': 'Who is in charge?'

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) was blasted this week after its administrators acknowledged the university stopped short of expelling anti-Israel student protesters because of "visa issues."

MIT President Sally Kornbluth said in a statement Nov. 9 that the school would merely suspend students who participated in the disruptive protest from non-academic campus activities to avoid "collateral consequences for the students, such as visa issues." One day earlier, the Coalition Against Apartheid, a pro-Palestinian student group, conducted a large protest that Kornbluth confirmed defied MIT policies governing student actions.

"In late morning, the face-to-face confrontation between the protesters and counterprotesters intensified," Kornbluth said. "We had serious concerns that it could lead to violence. To prevent further escalation and protect the physical safety of everyone present – including both student protesters and passers-by in our busiest lobby — the administration felt it was essential to take action."

"The students will remain enrolled at MIT and will be able to attend academic classes and labs," she continued, noting some of the protesters' "visa issues." "We will refer this interim action to the Ad Hoc Complaint Response Team, which includes the chair of the Committee on Discipline, for final adjudication."

MIT was quickly criticized for the decision because, prior to the disruptive protest, the school threatened to expel any students who acted in violation of its guidance and policies regarding such actions. Kornbluth's statement, they argued, appeared to contradict that previous promise.

'Who is in charge?'

“He who eats my bread does my will.” Marcus Aurelius

[Hostile] Foreign governments pay full freight tuitions for a goodly majority of their students. These tuitions are a major part of MIT's income.

Follow the money; the students go away, the money goes away...

I heard a report that said 1600 Harvard donors have canceled their donations over Jew-hate.

Too much foreign money in these schools.

Watch the Shawn Ryan podcast with Peter Schweizer. He explains how they’re doing it.

No one cares.

This is, of course, a BS excuse.

Brandon is not going to deport anyone.

This is just the MIT Admin getting on board with the “current thing”.

if they had protested and screamed death to gays, they would have been expelled before they even returned to their dorms.

But because it is ok to kill the Jews for the left, this is left alone.

There are reports of significant violence against Jewish students at MIT. Is this a rerun of 1930's Nazi Germany? From a letter:

This is the reality that MIT President wants to hide. A letter from Israeli & Jewish MIT students:

To all students at MIT,

Today, Jewish and Israeli MIT students were physically prevented from attending class by a hostile group of pro-Hamas and anti-Israel MIT students that call themselves the CAA.

This is after students from the CAA harassed MIT staff members in their offices for being Jewish and interrupted classes in the past few weeks. All of this has occurred with no clear response from the administration. With each passing day, MIT admin’s silence makes Jewish and Israeli students feel unsafe at MIT.

Many Jewish students fear leaving their dorm rooms and have stated that they feel MIT is not safe for Jews. This message is compounded by the public and private warnings of Hillel and many faculty that Jewish students should not enter MIT’s main lobby today, November 9th, 2023.

Just because the USA and Western Europe decided to commit their version of seppuku, does not mean high quality students have to have their educations interrupted. There are excellent Universities in other parts of the world where the national authorities have had long and unfortunate experience with the imperialism coming out of the middle east. Maybe it is time for Jewish students to move further onward in their pursuits.

Maybe the high quality islamofascists should get educated in their freedom loving nations of origin.

Endowment of MIT: $ 23.5 billion.

They don't need tuition money... ever again, from anyone.

Much less from America-hating foreign antisemites.

Deport mode.

Tuition at MIT is 60,000.

Number of undergraduates 5500.

Product of these two numbers is 330 million.

That is 1.3 percent of their endowment of 25 billion.

The income potentially lost from tuition from these foreign troublemakers would be much, much less that that; it would be imperceptible to MIT.

The value of their restoring order, condemning antisemitism, and standing for principle, would have been priceless.

But, that horse has left the station.

Not just Harvard, major donors at a number of universities say they aren’t donating anymore because of the antisemitism. The University of Pennsylvania is another that comes to mind. https://www.newsweek.com/university-loses-funding-israel-stance-donors-1835027

What the Hamas supporters did in Lobby 7 (the main entrance to MIT’s Infinite Corridor) was an act of terrorism, pure and simple!

Expel ALL the terrorists! Make MIT safe for all law-abiding students!

And I hope that all expelled terrorists are deported, so that all Americans are safe from them!
