I would think that flooding the tunnels with salt water would solve the tunnel problem. Check for hostages first, then flood that area. Leave the Hamas types in the tunnel.
Makes excellent sense. Although I have heard the tunnels are vast and complex. No telling what it will take to get rid of them. Also, they have machines that make new ones really quick. They have to be destroyed as well.

Hamas has innumerable escape hatches from which they’d escape flooding. Many or most hatches open under kid’s beds, etc. and not out in the open where they could be dispatched.
