An 18-year-old Tennessee college student who was hit by a stray bullet while walking near Belmont University campus died overnight Wednesday, according to Metro Nashville Police.
Jillian Ludwig, of New Jersey, was walking on a track in a local park when she was shot in the head and critically wounded at about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to police.
They arrested Shaquille Taylor, 29, after surveillance video and witness statements pointed to him as the shooter. Video showed Ludwig falling as Taylor fired at a nearby car, according to a police affidavit.
A passerby discovered Ludwig, 18, on the ground about an hour later, and she was transported to the Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
“Taylor was shooting at a car when a bullet hit Ludwig in the head as she walked on a track in a park across the street,” police said on social media when announcing the arrest Wednesday.
Before Ludwig’s death, Taylor was charged with aggravated assault and evidence tampering and was being held on a $280,000 bond. A public defender assigned to Taylor’s case did not return phone and email messages requesting comment.

Say her name!
But released on his own recognizance no doubt.
Scott Adams.
“Shaquille”?
Nothing to see here, move along . . .
Our cities are now dangerous to all given the Left pushing crime.
What a tragic death of what appears to be a solid citizen.
Shaquille O’Neal’s a good guy. This turd isn’t worthy of the name.
“They arrested Shaquille Taylor”
That tells everybody everything.
Like I said earlier, he should have been rotting in jail based on his previous history, which would have done far more than "gun laws" to save the life of this young innocent woman.
2011: Police seized a .40 caliber handgun from Taylor during an incident when he was a juvenile.
2015: Taylor was charged with robbery and given probation
2016: Taylor violated that probation when he was charged with aggravated burglary and was sentenced to a year in jail.
2021: Taylor was arrested after he and another man fired a gun into a car on Dickerson Pike in East Nashville. He was charged with aggravated assault.
May 2023: He was released from custody after three court-appointed psychologists deemed him incompetent to stand trial, but also found he didn't pose an imminent threat to himself or others.
Sept. 2023: Taylor was charged with auto theft and released on bail, but an arrest warrant was issued for him last Friday when he failed to show up in court.
Who is the “Public Defender”? It seems to me that if he/she is a ‘Public’ defender, his name should also be PUBLIC. SAY HIS/HER NAME!!
A black mental midget labeled as a kindergartner. From a day or so ago.
Apologies to little people.
The Hamasses have got the “Kollege Klown Kiddies” all fired up over this Gaza freak show and now they are killing people. Nobody wants the Palestinians anymore. Their whining tends to get other people tortured, raped and murdered.
Was the person who called police for her the first person to walk past her?
It seems unlikely, for a walking trail in mid-afternoon.
I maintain that the judge who approved probation or no jail, should serve the sentence for any subsequent crimes committed.
That would put an end to all this.
I prefer we take that decision totally away from judges who have proven they should not and do not deserve this power. Certain crimes = NO BAIL.
He fired a gun into a car with woman and two small children inside.
This time, he shot at a passing car, obviously with someone in it.
Is he an active gangbanger or a gangbanger’s wind up toy? Is his motive robbery, gang War, or fun?
He has a girlfriend, he drives. He isn’t a five year old in a man’s body.
He played the doctors.
“It seems unlikely, for a walking trail in mid-afternoon.”
I dunno, if you can get killed walking there, it might not get much traffic.
God Lord, why was such a creature allowed back out on the streets?
There are thousands like him let out w/o bail. There are tens o thousands like him coming in through our open border.
