Same issue.
Evidently you aren’t bright enough to know that.

It seems that the phrase the “right to repair” is a completely bogus way of describing what is at issue here.
A little dramatic hyperbole. Car-repair destiny? Maybe he meant their density.
Of COURSE it’s the same issue. But when the wording of the law specifically says “CAR” that’s what it’s going to mean. I didn’t know that about John Deere as I’m not a farmer.
ALL “Right to repair” is good. Now if we could just get the DMCA repealed so that it’s no longer illegal to reverse engineer things we’d be MUCH better off. If you’re not to stupid to know what I’m talking about.
It was the same issue, Karen.
$10,000. added to the cost of a car? How so?
Here’s a novel thought..... quit buying their crap vehicles.
All they’ve done over the last 40+ years is unnecessarily complicate simple machines as well as their basic subsystems. And for what.... a few extra mpg and possibly a little less pollutants? No wonder practically no one can repair their own vehicles anymore.
The only “improvements” I’d keep are ABS, rear backup cameras, and the BSW system. The rest can be deep-sixed especially all TBS. I’ll put a well tuned carb up against any TBS any day of the week, and win.
Unfortunately, this crap engineering has invaded all modern motorized vehicles from lawn mowers to big rigs. Solutions: fix what you have, procure practically any pre-80’s vehicle (big rigs, tractors, and lawn mowers up into the 90’s and some 2k’s) and restore them. Be cheaper in the long run with a lot less headaches. Simple machines with virtually no computer controls, hack-proof, and you now have total control back.
Oh..... and did I say... quit buying their crap vehicles.
In France they retroactively imposed emission requirements on older vehicles that they were never designed to meet.
Then they used that to deny registration and force them off the road. It was one of the causes of the yellow vests.
They intend to force most people off the road, and they will figure out the workarounds.
“You just added $10,000 per vehicle or more to cars sold in your clownville”
Not everybody buys new cars...
There are some nasty trolls on here lately. Its tiring being called names by them.
REALLY GLAD I HAVE 1976 1 ton Chevy truck & 1979 Buick wagon.
NO “DIAGNOSTICS” by Electronics controlled by manufacturer.
OLD IRON Mechanic does a great job.
MAYBE farmers should quit buying JD & get their attention.
IF I ever need such equipment-—I WILL NOT BUY JD.
Have driven over a million miles-—
MO ABS-—NO BACK UP CAMERAS-—OR BSW.
NO computer stuff on my vehicles.
