Reynolds, DeSantis: Trump Attacked Governors for Trying to Reopen During COVID
Breitbart ^ | 7 Nov 2023 | IAN HANCHETT

Posted on 11/07/2023 7:31:08 AM PST by SoConPubbie

During an interview with NBC News on Monday, 2024 Republican presidential candidate Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) and Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds (R), who has endorsed DeSantis for president, said that rival 2024 GOP candidate former President Donald Trump attacked governors for trying to reopen during the coronavirus pandemic.

After DeSantis mentioned the criticism he got for his handling of the COVID pandemic and stated that he did what he thought was right regardless of the criticism, Reynolds said, [relevant remarks begin around 11:00] “Exactly. That is exactly what we needed to do. COVID Kim, I think, was my nickname. I can’t remember what they called [DeSantis]. But with all kinds of — the pushback was incredible, it was unbelievable, from the media, from the teacher’s union, from the Trump administration. He actually called out governors for trying to open up, to get the economy moving. They tried to force us to shelter in place.”

DeSantis then said, “But one of the things we will do — and I’m the only one that will do this — is I will bring a reckoning for everything the federal government did wrong, because it was a disastrous performance, and we’re still living with a lot of the legacy of it. Of course, the inflation all started when you shut down the economy and everything like that. And yet, I know Donald Trump says he did everything right during COVID. That is not true. And so, we need to have a reckoning, we need accountability. And Kim’s exactly right. She was doing things, Gov. Brian Kemp (R-GA) was attacked from the White House podium for opening up Georgia. … And so, it was media, bureaucracy, both Trump’s and Biden’s administration, and we just need to have an accounting for that.”

Governor Reynolds will be shortly following DeSanctimonious into the toilet bowl of Irrelevency where her polling is concerned.

She is already at 32%.

What do you want to bet she is in the 20s shortly??

Iowa 2024 Poll: Plurality of Independent Voters Disapprove of Gov. Reynolds:

"A new Emerson College Poll in Iowa finds Governor Kim Reynolds with a 32% approval among Iowa residents, while 39% disapprove of the job she is doing in office. Twenty-nine percent are neutral. President Biden’s approval is six points lower than Reynolds,’ holding a 26% approval among residents, and 52% disapproval. Twenty-two percent are neutral towards the president. "

Won’t help Meatball one iota. He needs to go start his supposed second term and prove he actually is a good two term Governor.

He has only served one term.

No. This is pure payoff. Expect here to receive some sort of honorarium position after she leaves office.

He did. I remember him raging about my state governor (Brian Kemp) doing so. It's partially the reason why he tried so hard to make us dump Kemp (probably the state's best 21st century governor) for frickin' David Perdue.

Trump says he told Kemp: ‘I totally disagree’ with move to reopen Georgia

DeSantis and Reynolds are telling the truth. That is what Trump did as President.

2017-2019 were years of great achievement for President Trump. 2020 was regrettably a disaster.

It's no coincidence that COVID hit in 2020.

Saying that you "totally disagree" is "ragging" and "attacking".

Such hyperbolic victimhood.

Also remember that Trump placed responsibility for handling all matters Covid upon the various States in accordance with the Constitution. Any democrat would have nationalized the entire program.

DeSantis and Reynolds are telling the truth. That is what Trump did as President.

Not telling the full story is really not being truthful.

DeSantis locked down Florida.

From your link:

So Trump disagreed with Kemp "just a little bit, not much".

Meanwhile DeSantis was still locking down Florida.

Yet DeSantis and Renoylds try to run on that?

LOL!

I remember that. They were trying tonpressure Trump to stop Kemp because at the time they were seen as strong allies so they were trying to feacture that. The media kept saying, what are you going to do about it and Trump wouldn’t give them anything. The whole Georgia play was to make Trump look irresponsible and try and tie him to more deaths. These too politicians are pathetic and their retelling of events is a joke. Trump was putting out feelers as early as April. He was giving cover to everyone to “open it up” and not to worry about masks. He was telling everyone that would listen that God gave a cheap miracle cure in Hydroxycloraquin (sp?). Trump was a very strong push back during COVID. I wish he waa able to do more but I also recognize the his allies were in laege part cowards who didnt want to take any of the heat Trump was taking.

Spare me. Lockdown Don spent 2020 pushing COVID hysteria, being the architect of Operation Warp Speed and he spent his final full day in the White House on January 19, 2021 awarding Dr. Fauci a medal.

You want to attack Trump's primary opposition on something, sure, but this ain't the issue to do it. Trump failed bigly on COVID.
