I have a son who has a deadly peanut allergy.
When he was a toddler I gave him peanut butter on several occasions. He would scream in pain. I had never heard of peanut allergies, so I assumed he would eventually love the taste. đź‘…
We learned what was going on when he collapsed unable to breathe. I’ve had to rush him to the emergency room a couple of times from ingesting nuts that were not supposed to be in his food: at church someone tossed some peanuts in the group’s ice cream. He swooped it within tasting it.
When he was a young boy I would intentionally give him food with nuts in it. If he tried to eat it I would stop him. I was training him to read the ingredients himself, no matter who assured him the food was free of nuts. He shouldn’t trust anyone, even me, because it’s not as critical to anyone else as it is to him.
I guess the question is what steps are taken when your son flies?
