Oh it’s worse then that. They get to live there as “caretakers”.

Nature Conservancy, Wildlife Defense Fund, lots of land trusts in California, it’s all about them getting to rope off major areas of the West. For themselves.

Yeah, I read a story a few years ago about a NC purchase of land to expand the Washington-Jefferson National Forest in Virginia. Some large corporation financed the purchase, and they were allotted a 200 or 300-acre plot right in the middle. They built a grand hunting and fishing lodge accessible only by helicopter for the personal use of the corporate bigwigs.
