A different announcer for the replay (video at bottom of article) & the video/discussion of the ‘inquiry’. National Treasure drifted out a couple of times & his jockey did not change whip hands to keep him off Cody’s Wish, plus the jockey had his elbow flying in close proximity to Alvarado (old time rough riding). As one analyst said, Alvarado’s reins were flopping all over - the heart/guts to fight for the win were all Cody’s Wish. What a relief to see “official” on the board!
Going back to the start of the race, Cody’s Wish got “pinched” coming out of the gate & was in fact dead last briefly. I love the pic of the two horses at the wire with CW’s nose in front, his face covered in mud/dirt from his run at dead last to the finish, while National Treasure, who ran first virtually the whole way, has a clean face.
