Something ‘beautiful’ with all the ‘ugly’ going on in this country & the world today. It’s the true story of a boy, Cody Dormer, born with a rare & severe genetic condition, who was supposed to die, but with loving parents, who did not give up on him, he is now 17 yo. On a Make A Wish trip a couple of years ago, he met a young colt & a special bond was formed at that meeting, so special in fact that the farm named the horse Cody’s Wish.

Cody’s Wish grew up to be a successful race horse & the bond with Cody remained. Their story spread & became something very special in the world of horse racing. Cody’s Wish ran in last year’s Breeders’ Cup & won The Dirt Mile race. The Breeders’ Cup is a premier event in the fall, with only the best horses of the year competing against each other. It’s a Big Deal to win a Breeders’ Cup race.

This is a story written about Cody & Cody’s Wish after the 2022 win at Keeneland last year:

Breeders’ Cup miracle: the tearjerking story of the racehorse and the boy who wished upon a star
https://www.thoroughbredracing.com/articles/5659/breeders-cup-miracle-heartwarming-story-codys-wish-and-boy-who-wished-upon-star/

************

Cody’s Wish ran again at the Breeders’ Cup yesterday. It would be his last race before being retired to stud. Cody & his family were there to see him run. The announcers & handicappers all said if betting with their hearts, they would bet for Cody’s Wish, but as good as he was, he was running against a strong field that included National Treasure, the Preakness Winner. “Realistically”, they were giving other horses the nod to win.

The race replay at the link:

https://breederscup.com/races/2023-dirt-mile?tab=gallery

To add to the drama, there was an ‘inquiry’ after the race, but the result stood. If you do nothing else with this post, watch the race replay.

The farm where Cody’s Wish will be retired is 20 minutes from Cody’s house & he has been told he is welcome to visit any time.

Amid all this Hamas news, let’s take pleasure that Judge Cannon has thrown a wrench into Hack Smith’s smearing of Trump regarding the Mara-lago docs case by delaying it, at least temporarily.

This case—initiated in Florida—was transferred to DC by Smith and the DoJ to secure a sure-thing conviction from a Trump hating DC jury. It was considered the most winnable of the 4 flimsy Trump cases and the most likely to be held, decided and publicized during the peak of the 2024 campaign. May>July>>>>>Nov....thus destroying Trump’s chances, so they hope.

This delay most likely moves this case into ‘25. Cannon reasoned that Trump can’t defend 4 cases at once. The DoJ has outsmarted itself....if that’s possible.

So there they all were in DC, waving Palestinian flags, and the odd Hamas flag, calling for peace and a cease fire during their mostly peaceful protests. You read the mainstream media accounts and they were saying all the right progressive touchy feely things, all the while trying to push down the White House fence and smearing it with red paint. I’ve lived near Detroit my entire adult life and know firsthand what the vast majority are like, and Rashida Talib is it. We’ve been invaded over the last 40 years and have stood by , hell even praising it in certain circles. I believe we’ve been sold out by our politicians, both initials, and the southern border crisis is just the final phase, Just plain sad and infuriating at the same time.

I have been amusing myself on Sunday morning over coffee by scanning the Sunday Morning Talk Show guest list and counting how many Republican presidential candidates (not named Trump) are giving interviews.

This morning, for the first time in 14 weeks, there are no Republican presidential candidates on this morning’s roster.

Mind you. It has been 14 weeks since I started tracking this. I think it went on for a couple of months prior to that before I picked up on it and started keeping notes.

“Face the Nation’s” version of “fair and balanced? During WWII would they have featured a “debate” between Franklin Roosevelt and Adolf Hitler?
