When I played field hockey many decades ago, the rules did not allow the stick to be raised higher than horizontal at any time. Sometime later that got changed so that a swing could almost look like a golf swing. When I questioned this, I was told that the other players just needed to stay out of the way of the stick of the person hitting the ball. Maybe this rule needs to be changed back if that has not already been done. The lower swing kept the ball near the ground almost all of the time.
A guy playing field hockey? What? When I was in High school guys never played field hockey, it was always just the girls. The guys played Lacrosse and the girls Field hockey but I guess that’s considered bias nowadays.
Found that some sports are very regional. Was really hard to find LaCrosse team in South Jersey in the late 60’s, same with Ice Hockey.
Much better protective equipment now. When I played we didn’t even have protective gloves. That how I got my thumbnail ripped off and ligaments torn
Hitting the ball into somebody else’s face is kind of risk of the game. So it is loosing teeth.
The male x female does not really matter here.

That's the real story in this case. If they had invested in head protection, this wouldn't have occurred.
In the article they say he was not transgendered but just a good player who could help the girls win.

Yeah I saw that.The reason I thought it was a trans was I watched the video on my phone. I thought that player they closed in on afterword ( the heavy one wearing the skirt ) was the one that hit the ball :-)
The field hockey ball is hard. I’m surprised they don’t have head protection.
Lolz.....The boys parents should be forking out for the girls dental and medical bills. If they don't I would be suing them for these bills Plus pain and suffering. IOW take them to the cleaners.

Kelly needs a late night visit from some angry parents to help him, or her, get their mind right. A couple of missing teeth ought to do it.

For what? Because the school system was too cheap to provide protection for their players?
I'm not saying I agree with letting him play on the girls' team, but this was the school system's fault, IMHO.
The leftists would target the father. Her school would too. They would lose.
They might win if they sued for failing to provide adequate protection for their athletes.
Simply not true.
Boys have been playing field hockey in the state for 40 years. Most people playing field hockey in the world are men/boys.
This is more about an errant shot and a player who thought mouth protection was “optional.”
The rule states that if there is not a comparable sport for the opposite sex, then the team can be co-ed. For example, there are girls and boy’s basketball. However, there is not boy’s field hockey or girl’s wrestling. You see a lot of girls wrestling these days…and they win.
