The Afghans used to send a fuel truck to pump diesel into places where enemy were holed up (like basements and tunnels), and then ignite it.
In addition to the fire, there was a lot of choking smoke produced.
Hamas probably has some underground diesel storage tanks for their generators, that might fuel smoking a few out.
