DeSantis: GOP Won’t Nominate Trump if He Is Convicted
Breitbart ^ | 2 Nov 2023 | JEFF POOR

Posted on 11/02/2023 10:45:51 AM PDT by SoConPubbie

Thursday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), a candidate for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, said he would not support the GOP nominating former President Donald Trump if he is convicted.

“You did say, Governor, at that August debate when the question was put to the entire panel if Donald Trump is convicted, will you still — and he is the nominee, would you still support him?” co-host Willie Geist said. “And you raised your hand. You’re a lawyer. You served in the Navy. You were well-trained at the greatest schools. Do you really believe that a man who’s convicted of, say, attempting to overturn the 2020 election or taking nuclear secrets back to his beach club, do you actually still, as we sit here today, believe that person should be president?”

“So I signed a pledge, Willie and that pledge is what it is,” DeSantis replied. “Now, do I think somebody under those circumstances could get elected president? The answer is no. That will not happen. I think that Republican voters will understand that as we get closer to voting. But it is — it would be fatal in a general election, and I don’t think the party should — should nominate in that situation. However, you know, I signed the pledge. I’m a Republican. I don’t think it’s going to come to that, and I think we’ll be — we’ll get the job done like we need to, but the reality is I signed it, and that’s what I did.”

“So, you stand by that this morning?” Geist said.

Whos to say? Any felony will be appealed and these cases could drag on for years. The public has zero confidence in this system of justice. A kangaroo courts verdict isnt necessarily a death knell for Trump, for lots of folks, its a badge of honor. Especially with BidenCo getting exposed.

Even now folks till dont understand how much support truly has.

And you think most MAGA will vote for a Political Buzzard like Ronnie?
I will write Trumps name in if need be.
And I bet tens of millions will do the same.
So where will the Political Buzzard get his votes?

We KNOW he’ll be convicted. He was convicted the moment he won the 2016 election... they just had to find the appropriate charges

doesn’t matter anyhow.

we’re all going to write him in.

When President Trump is convicted, and it is obvious that several of these ridiculous trials are headed towards conviction regardless of facts or reality, what the GOP does is pretty irrelevant.

It doesn’t matter who the GOP puts up for the election, President Trump will get write ins that easily pass the eventual GOP nominee.

However, this strategy will work in the end as the Republican vote will be fractured enough to hand the left the win.

This was the plan all along.

Well that’s the GOP position. They stand by inactive while charges worthy of the most banana republic’s kangaroo court sail through, and prepare an array of Designated Losers (see: Dole, Romney, McCain, etc) in hopes the last vestiges of actual justice are swept away.

Their real hope is to return to fundraising grift and pseudo-campaigning so they can continue their cocktail party lifestyle while the country and the world go hurtling to destruction.

“And you think most MAGA will vote for a Political Buzzard like Ronnie?”

And vice versa. If Trump had his A game going, he’d be mending fences and building a coalition.

If DeSantis were no threat to his campaign, he wouldn’t even pay DeSantis any attention at all. It would be “give it your best shot, kid”, go about his way and try focusing on taking Biden down, instead.

“Trump will get write ins”

How many write-in candidates have won the Presidency? If it were an opening on a local library board it *might* work, otherwise it’s just a pipe dream.

It’s all moot.

Trump will be nominated, easily.

DeSantis will never hold a higher office than what he now occupies, and is likely to loose that one.

In TX we can’t write in Trump unless he files as a write-in candidate.

Why would Trump pay attention to Political Buzzard polling at 8%?

“Why would Trump pay attention to Political Buzzard polling at 8%?”

That’s the $64,000 Question - why is he not just paying attention, but oft-times is obsessed with DeSantis?

“Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), a candidate for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, said he would not support the GOP nominating former President Donald Trump if he is convicted.”

This is why I cannot and will not support my Governor. What is being done to Trump can and will happen to a POTUS who supports the people instead of the Deep State. Obviously DeSantis supports the Deep State.

I was pretty neutral regarding DeSantis until this. Now I despise him. The only Republican candidate worthy to be elected is Donald Trump. All the others are not worth a warm bucket of spit, to borrow an old phrase.

Are you stupid?
