From what I ready somewhere, the darker splotch of skin on the forehead is probably due to hitting the forehead on the ground during multiple rounds of muslim prayer.
Muslims consider the dark splotch as a sign of a devout muslim.
Usually they come out of these Friday prayers all crazy and ready to riot if the mullah preached about some slight or injustice to islam.
