A wave of retirements from Congress is usually a sign that things will not go well for that party in the next election. In addition, fundraising and candidate recruitment tend to become harder for that party.

Generic polling in regards to Democrat v. Republican for 2024 must be looking pretty bad.

I think that is true. I read yesterday that we are currently paying, every year, nearly $700 Billion in interest alone on our debt.

$700 Billion.

That is unsustainable, because not only is it going up and getting compounded (I would think) and not being reduced in any way, but countries have been bailing on using the dollar for their reserve currency.

Can’t say I blame them for shifting to a different currency as their reserve, but this is going to be a watershed change that we hear few people talking about, and the ramifications are huge.

I view people like this, who have done the damage, as seeing the writing on the wall and don’t want to be sitting behind a desk when the bill comes due, and the devil arrives to get payment.
