The process works so well that the excess energy can supply electricity to a couple of tattoo parlors and a bowling alley.
I agree. CO2 is an oxide. It is a product, not a precursor of combustion. You put energy in, not take it out. Through a series of reactions, one could end up with something that would combust, but more useable energy must go into the process than comes out.
And it will only be twice the price of gasoline!
“ But if we go green where will we get the CO2? ”
You had to go there, didn’t you? Lol
You still need another energy source. Converting CO2 to fuel will only store energy, not create it.
—”But if we go green where will we get the CO2?”
From the capture and storage facilities like this one near Decatur Illinois:
And if I had saved all of that junk instead of giving and throwing it all away -
I'd now be a guy with all kinds of junk - and probably worse back problems.
But at least I could have been a contender to be the 'Crystal King'.
—”Plus or minus net energy?”
Entropy! NO FREE LUNCH, NEVER EVER.
SAME MOTHER, DIFFERENT BROTHER.
Just think, you could’ve hawked those to today’s gullible lefty lunatics for their magical, mystical “energy” properties. You could have retired years ago!
We used to take family trips through the west to visit relatives. Dad would buy me polished rock specimen kits in the late 50s from the various “Wall Drug” type stores. I think I still have one stored away somewhere.
—”You still need another energy source. Converting CO2 to fuel will only store energy, not create it.”
“Energy cannot be created or destroyed, it can only be changed from one form to another”.
Said some Einstein guy.
Kind of a big thing in thermodynamics?
(2. C + H2 —> CH4)
2. C + 2H2 —> CH4?
Newton actually, but yes it’s an important thing. Conservation of energy means you cannot make things like perpetual motion machines to get free energy. CO2 is already at its lowest energy state, and to rearrange the atoms into fuel you need to put energy into it first.
OK, OK...I was just trying to make the silly perpetual energy argument and didn’t bother to balance the equations.
They can use to bomb Israel.
Elon Musk’s spacex splits hydrogen off from oxygen in water and then combines it with CO2 in the atmosphere to make methane for his rockets.
I had to balance the equation
Or my Engineering Chemistry professor would get me!
this has all been done before. the only question is what is the cost?
And just where do they get the energy to do this? First law says they need energy to do it. Second law says they won’t get as much energy out of it as they put in. Kind of like batteries. Takes more energy to charge them than you can get out. And for both processes the more intermediate steps the less energy you get out for what you put in.
