Isn’t the first time in American history, Wilson’s wife basically ran the presidency, when he had a stroke.

Edith Wilson wasn’t very intelligent, yet managed to keep President Wilson isolated and protected from his “enemies.”
Years ago, I read, “When the Cheering Stopped: The Last Years of Woodrow Wilson,” (1964) by Gene Smith. He talks about Mrs. Wilson’s actions “talking care of” her husband. I’m no Wilson fan, but it was interesting reading. Not sure if it is still in print.
