When groups go out of their way to hire mentally average but morally compromised employees someone at the top is criminal. Corrupt agents are easier to control. The country needs to go back to hiring based on merit - NOT on sexual kinks, skin color or powerful relatives.

This comment struck a chord, GOPJ. When I left the Navy after nine years, one avenue for employment I investigated was working for the CIA.
So I send the CIA a letter (on-line forms we’re a “thing” in 1984) inquiring about working for the agency.
What I got back was 3 inch thick packet of documents to fill out! Honest-to-goodness.
I couldn’t believe my eyes. On the face of it, you’d think the CIA did this as a matter of investigative thoroughness.
However, I think you’re analysis of hiring practices is closer to what they were after. If you obediently fill out this incredible stack of paperwork, you are mentally average and can easily be fooled or compromised. Another reason, you are really desperate for a job.
