Trump Scores Win in Lawsuit Over Promotion of Marketing Business

A federal judge refused on Tuesday to certify the ongoing lawsuit alleging President Donald Trump defrauded individuals in his promotion of a multi-level marketing venture as a class action.

Filed in 2018, the complaint focused on ACN, which sold telecommunications products, and two other companies. The plaintiffs are represented by Roberta Kaplan, the same attorney who represented E. Jean Carroll in her successful sexual battery and defamation suit against Mr. Trump.

U.S. District Judge Lorna G. Schofield ruled that putative class members lacked certain common elements in bringing the case. "Here there is no common evidence showing that putative class members decided to enroll because of Trump’s alleged misstatements," Judge Schofield wrote for her order in the Southern District of New York.

I don’t know anything about this case but MLM companies are fraudulent to begin with, the people who make money from MLM schemes are the early adopters and people that convince others to sell for them

Amway was the king of MLM companies at least they sold real products but every other MLM company I’ve seen was a fraud

ACN’s scam involved promoting video desktop telephones. Trump was their highly visible spokesman for the product. Problem was, they didn’t work worth a damn.
I got one, and it never worked right. ACN continued to bill me for it monthly, so I canceled that credit card right away. They continued to dun me for a couple of years with nasty messages about paying up or we will bring legal action. I told them to piss off.

Since I was a computer engineer my sister in law approached us one time about a MLM company they were working with that sold proprietary technology that allowed movies to be downloaded in movies minutes

I told them it was impossible using current technology, when the owner got arrested by the FBI for fraud no one ever apologized to me

Sounds familiar. My ACN upline went silent for a while, then approached me again for another MLM deal-of-the-century. “No thanks!”

You don’t need to feel sorry for me, feel sorry for my sister and brother-in-law who lose conservatively $30,000 or more in a fraudulent scheme, they were drunk on the idea of millions of dollars before the technology went public and being on the “ground floor” of revolutionary technology that was based on a lie.

One of my arguments against this scam was, if the technology is that revolutionary, ATT, Verizon, Cisco or some other massive technology company would buy it and you would not need MLM to sell it.

Here is a brief article on the scam.

Teddy Turner was the guy at the top of the MLM company, he was the son of Ted Turner, founder of CNN, owner of the Atlanta Braves, etc., so he carried a lot of influence based on his name.

The article includes a bunch of false claims by Turner.
