Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-IA) said she received death threats after voting against Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) for House speaker.
Miller-Meeks voted in favor of Jordan for speaker initially, but she retracted it in the subsequent vote. She said one of the reasons why she retracted her vote was a concern over "threatening tactics" from his supporters. The Iowa Republican said her concerns were confirmed when she received death threats after voting against him.
"I voted for Chairwoman Granger because she has demonstrated great leadership this year by bringing forth, and passing, fiscally responsible, single-subject appropriations bills and is a staunch conservative. However, since my vote in support of Chairwoman Granger, I have received credible death threats and a barrage of threatening calls. The proper authorities have been notified, and my office is cooperating fully," she said. "One thing I cannot stomach or support is a bully."
"Someone who threatens another with bodily harm or tries to suppress differing opinions undermines opportunity for unity and regard for freedom of speech," Miller-Meeks added. "That’s why I spoke out forcefully against censorship and suppression during the COVID-19 pandemic. I did not stand for bullies before I voted for Chairwoman Granger and when I voted for Speaker-designee Jordan, and I will not bend to bullies now."
On Wednesday, 22 Republicans voted against Jordan on the floor, and Miller-Meeks is one of several who have cited alleged "intimidation and threats" from Jordan's supporters and have stiffened their opposition in response.

Bannon’s ‘spies’ should have NAMED NAMES...then we would KNOW if she was at the Capital Grille.
I agree. They should also have taken video.
Well, she did receive $8,000 from the Steve Scalise campaign committee for the last election. Who knows how much she was promised for the upcoming election.
“staunch conservative”
Whenever I see that attached to any Washington pol, I am reminded that in Washington that phrase is a relative one. What does it mean? Its meaning is different to everyone, and especially in Washington it’s meaning is just a mouthful of words, nothing more.
So she got "death threats" for voting for him?
Oh Lord, she’s hyphenated.
Just an excuse to be a squishy moderate. Hopefully she gets a primary challenge from the right.
Yeah, so who would these 22 accept? Some realistic candidate. Name one and it can’t be another octogenarian or even septuagenarian.
From the headline:
“Miller-Meeks says she received death threats AFTER voting against Jordan for House speaker”.
Still have to ask why was she threatened after voting for him?
I guess she could have been referring to threatening tactics against others.
