Exactly. The very point of the brutal attack and subsequent atrocities was to provoke a response from Israel.
But when you get right down to it, when it comes to things like this, the typical "conservative" turns out to be some stupid cracker who's in thrall to his own bloodlust. Even the ones who represent themselves to be Christians. It's alternatingly silly and disgusting.

You’re right although this is still unavoidable. As several analysts have said Israel allowed suicide bombers and one or two rockets to kill up to 20 people or so. But to allow over 1,000 dead right away and not do something would encourage more, despite the news stories of “both sides had ——dead so far” and “children died in Israeli bombing yesterday.”

I remember the New Age icon Dr. Deepak Chopra saying after 9/11: “The people who set this up use donkey carts to travel. Donkey carts versus the American 21st century technology military.” The interviewer (famous writer Mitch Albom, usually a Dem supporter) said: “They had funding in the tens of millions of dollars from Arab sources so that helped them go beyond their donkey carts to kill people here.”

I think they do but once it gets to the point where they’re at the front door, armed and wanting to get in to point their guns at you - “understanding why” is the last thing on their minds. It’s survival.
