Let me add that there are many fine Muslims in the U.S. and elsewhere. They are not to blame for the evils that can be inflicted in the name of pure Islam.

But at the same time, they are like fringe members of a cult. They cannot be expected to see the truth at the core of Islam, nor can they be expected to fix the problem. If anything, they are like brothers, sisters, and parents who cover for a dangerous criminal brother in their midst. They turn a blind eye because they have to. It's a family matter.
