Once you do away with the principle that the entire GOP caucus supports the GOP nominee for Speaker, you’re basically screwed. Everyone whose candidate loses the Speaker nomination will refuse to vote for the winner on the floor. Result at best is paralysis... at its worse, Dems end up in in a power sharing arrangement with the help of a few GOP members.

When Nancy Pelosi had a 5 seat majority, she may as well have had a 50 seat majority because her entire caucus did whatever they were told.

“When Nancy Pelosi had a 5 seat majority,”

Nancy knew how to be a leader and McCarthy didn’t have a clue.

As an autocratic style leader Nancy used the carrot and stick approach. For those that don’t know, the Carrot and stick approach is simple to do. You have a stick and you hang a carrot from it, her people either took the carrot or found out what the stick was for and you don’t even want to know what Nancy’s stick was like.
