This is what the populist gang of eight GOP members have wrought, having joined with Dims to oust their own speaker and with no plan nor idea of a plan as to how - having but a slim minority in the GOP - they would elect another GOP speaker.

They - inspite of how few they are - want 93% of the GOP to go along with them while they do not want to go along with that 93%.

They may have ousted Kevin McCarthy but they have shown they are not leaders and are incapable of leading.

Their internal disagreements with their fellow GOP members should have remained at the level of individual bills, not over who would be speaker.

Speaking of individual bills...
Is not a promise by the speaker how this started.

UODATE: Austin Scott of Georgia will be challenging Jordan for the speakership. I don't know anything about the guy, but this is what he is highlighted on his Member's page:

October 3, 2023

WASHINGTON, D.C.—U.S. Austin Scott (GA-08) today released the following statement after the House of Representatives passed H. Res. 757, declaring the office of Speaker of the House of Representatives to be vacant.

“The eight Republicans who supported Joe Biden and the Democrats’ desire to remove Kevin McCarthy as Speaker are nothing more than grifters who have handed control of the House to the Democratic Party in the name of their own glory and fundraising," Scott said. "There is nothing principled about what they did, and Republican leadership will have to decide to either hold these members accountable or lose the faith of the rest of the conference.”
