Russia has diplomatic relations with Israel and the Palestinian Authority, and have long advocated for a two-state solution to the decades-long feud between the Israelis and the Palestinians.

So what does Baraka mean by “they sympathize with” Hamas? That could run the gamut between diplomatic boilerplate to full-throated support for the destruction of Israel. (I personally veer towards the former.)

Unless Hamas releases the direct contents of the messages, I doubt we’ll ever know for sure.
