I sure hope that’s the way of it.

So do I. We both have a son, so I’m betting you and I are much closer in age than your son and I. I’m 6 foot 1 and 175 so we might be close physically as well. The big difference may be, I grew up in a military environment unrelated to one of the academies, and was a career officer getting there via ROTC rather than the academy route. The same route my father pursued and served thirty five years.

I see what is being done to the elite military academies to water down the skills that made our military of the past what it took to win a protracted conflict on two continents at the same time. I don’t like what I see, and it needs to return to the principles and traditions that produced gallantry and bravery in combat that was a key to war winning ability.

I retired in 1987. At that time the women’s movement was just reaching success, where at least in the USAF women in combat was shortly going to be a reality. I didn’t do much to stop that progression other than grouse vocally that the founders were against women in combat other than nurses, and had stuck to that principle through at least the Korean War.

The wander off the paths of our Founders and into leftist ideology has only increased with the passage of time and the re-education of the public to accept women in combat, watered down curriculum as well as the weakening of the former rigid physical requirements for service men and women. The military most of all suffers from civilian meddling in the traditions that have served us so well in the past to include the one room school house where a great majority of our war winning service men came from prior to WWII.

The end looks bleak, but I agree with your son. We know what has served us in the past and those that believe otherwise are a minority compared to those who believe in what is right. Those had better be the ones that prevail when the going gets tough. Go woke and go broke isn’t just a slogan it applies in spades to the armed forces of the United States of America and war has a way of bringing out the best in us. We are at war. Especially with those who desire to corrupt our military.

Thanks for that.. and thanks to you and your family's lifelong commitment to our nation :)

I think someday soon we're going to need soldiers, real ones, with a genuine commitment to God and country. Considering all the social engineering the left has been doing in our public schools, they may be few and far between..

I served from Jan. 65' - Jan. 68. (16c20)
