RFK Jr. : The Impact of Third Parties on the 2024 Election
American Thinker ^ | 10/10/23 | Steve McCann

A Gallup Poll published on October 4, 2023 should serve as a wake-up call to both the Democrat and Republican Parties as well as their prospective presidential nominees in 2024.

A massive 63% of those polled told Gallup they agree with the premise that the Republican and Democratic Parties do such a poor job of representing the American people that a third major party is necessary. 46% of Democrats and a whopping 76% of Independents believe a third party is needed.

The change among Republican voters claiming the need for a third party is the most significant revelation of this poll. As of October of 2023, 58% of Republicans believe a third party is a necessity. That is up 13 points from last year when Donald Trump’s announced he would run for a second term. In the normal course of events, once Trump got into the race the percentage of Republicans agreeing that at third party was needed should have receded not increased. During Trump’s four years in office an average of only 39% of Republicans agreed that a third party was needed.

Much of this reaction among the general populace is due to three factors. First, the unpopularity of both Trump (57% unfavorable) and Biden (54% unfavorable). Second, the Democrat Party’s pursuit of far-left policies that alienate a majority of voters. And third, the Republican Party’s fecklessness in dealing with the Democrat Party’s extremism while publicly airing out their internal squabbles like children on a school playground.

This Gallup poll is not an outlier. Another recent poll exposes the potential impact of a third party vote on the outcome of the 2024 election.

See here:

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/campaigns/majority-battleground-states-support-third-party-candidate

In eight all-important battleground states that will decide the 2024 election, a majority of the registered voters polled said they would back a third-party candidate if the 2024 election features a rematch between Joe Biden and Donald Trump.

Overall, 63% claim they would be open to supporting a centrist independent ticket. 72% believe Biden should not win a second term (which is among the many reasons he will not be on the ballot in November of 2024), while 63% say Trump should not win a second term. This opens the door for an alternative candidate like RFK Jr. to garner significant votes in the general election.

Personally, I believe all RFK Jr. is doing is trying an end run to win the trophy for knocking out Trump.

Democrats would love a plausible alternative to Biden, but this guy was not it.

Kennedy is working with the Rats to take out Trump. He is conveniently not hitting Biden on anything except Vaccines which is something that hurts Trump (only in they have against Trump). What is he running to the left of Biden on?

“A massive 63% of those polled told Gallup they agree with the premise that the Republican and Democratic Parties do such a poor job of representing the American people”

Seems to me that our government already represents ‘the people’. The people who want low income tax rates get that (probably the lowest in the West), and the people who want super-high government spending get that (definitely the highest in the West).

Of course, given the above, we wind up a huge national debt. But that’s not a problem either, as most who voted for the above will be dead before the debt comes due (at least that was the case before the Neocons seized power).

“Once Trump got into the race the percentage of Republicans agreeing that at third party was needed should have receded not increased”:

Thats B/S ,most people are pissed at the Congress for not doing what real conservatives want them to do! All they do is what the Democrats want them to do. The UNIPARTY.

I think the general insider view is that Biden won’t run, and some weird exit will bring Gov Newsom into the picture. So you’d have Newsom, RFK and Trump, in a state-by-state election.

All of this...I think, is organized to ensure the Electoral College fails, and we get to January 2025...to elect via the back-up system. It may very well end up that neither of the three can get a winning vote, and the House Speaker ends for at least a brief period as President...maybe even longer.

I really can’t see how a modern American third party could be successful. State and national politics are now all about money. Money for ads, money for staff. Much of that money comes from lobbyists, special interest groups, etc.

So let’s say I’m a lobbyist, and I’ve got $1 million to spend on a state-wide election. I’m going to spend most of it on the favorite, and some on the number two candidate as a hedge. Those are going to be the D and R guys.

I suspect this will hurt Trump more than Biden.

It is hard to underestimate how much Trump is hated by some people, and this is a very attractive way to go

I see this as a major problem for Trump. Why? Because moderate Republicans are vindictive scum and will vote for Kennedy just because they don’t get their way. That is mainly why Kari Lake lost Arizona, the McCain wing of the Republican party got their feelings hurt and voted for Hobbs.

I don’t see a fix for this problem.

Not when he joins the AOC wing and jumps on the Climate Cult bandwagon, which he has.

I at least want to agree with you. Many Democrats - especially older ones - went for Biden based on name recognition. Kennedy has that same name recognition.

Plus since the last successful 3rd party - the Republicans. It merely took a fracturing of one party and the disappearance of the other due to an upcoming Civil War to establish themselves. There are two additional problems:

1. Primarily our “executive Government” system is not a parliamentary system. It’s an election winner take all system which makes it inherently more stable. It is structurally hostile to the sustainability of anything other then the two parties. Third & fourth parties, etc. come and go because they primarily form around a “protest issue” which if it has any popularity they soon adopt.

2.Secondarily, both parties have created many legal barriers at the state level to prevent a new party to emerge.

It still doesn’t change the fact that we DO NOT have a parliamentary system! Parliamentary systems are no panacea! Look at Canada, the UK and Germany! Their governments are paralyzed into leftism, particularly the Uk & Canada by the multiparties holding the majority hostage.

Don’t believe an impact of third parties on the 2024 election.

1.Would not get support from both parties on rulings
2.Grid lock nothing gets better
3.World leaders see great opportunity to make their move on
America because if it’s weakness.

Only two paths in this country Liberty or communism.
