Good?

It’s SSDD.

Just with a different war.

David Khalfa
Excerpted

The attack is unprecedented both in terms of its scale and its sophistication. Since the Yom Kippur War [on October 6, 1973, an Arab coalition of Egyptian and Syrian forces launched a surprise attack on Israel on Yom Kippur – the Jewish holy day of atonement, Ed.], Israel has never been confronted with a full-scale ground invasion [like this].

We are talking about Hamas commando forces – special forces operating deep inside Israeli territory – with a modus operandi of a real army. Hardened by battle, they are trained and equipped with modern tactical resources and fight in several places at a time.

They sent eight pickup trucks with around eight Islamist Hamas gunmen [in each] patrolling the streets of towns and villages into southern Israel, killing civilians at point-blank range and taking entire families hostage, including women and children.

This situation is completely unheard of. It is a massive surprise attack, a coordinated attack that requires a level of intelligence and preparation on the part of Hamas. Probably some logistical support, too, from Islamic Jihad on the one hand and Hezbollah and Iran on the other. That would go a long way towards explaining what is happening now.

Why did Israeli intelligence services not see this coming?
David Khalfa: It is a major failure for the Israeli intelligence services. A failure that could even be described as historic and without exaggerating, could be compared to what happened in 1973.

Israel is a country that is on permanent alert, ready to go into battle at any time. It is always on its toes. It is clear that there was a certain degree of unpreparedness, probably an error in the analysis and estimation on the part of Israeli intelligence services, but also in the preparation of Israeli special forces [for an attack like this].

It seems the Israeli army itself is in a state of shock. The country is in the fog of war, and the success of Hamas’s operation largely depends on an element of surprise, but also on joint army manoeuvres.

The attack was three-dimensional; it took place on land, sea and by air. That is probably what surprised the Israelis.

Israel is a country that relies on its technology to anticipate threats and neutralise them before they arise. It is clear that there was an issue regarding anticipation, and probably a problem in their analysis the threat level.

The scenario Israeli intelligence services were expecting was an invasion from the north, via Hezbollah in southern Lebanon. They were blindsided.

The purpose of this attack is to prevent normalization between Israel and the Arab world. It will be interesting to see how this plays out as the older Arab generation is still in favor of the Palestinian cause. The younger Arab world is, “let’s just move on.” According to reports, the Hamas leadership has made several recent trips to Moscow. Israel has not taken a solid stand in the Ukrainian war because they have a huge number of former Russians living in Israel. Ukraine has come out vocally backing Israel.

Time will tell whether Hamas has overplayed their hand or whether Saudi Arabia will tip one way or the other. Hamas is a wholly owned subsidiary of Iranian intelligence. If SA takes a pro-Israel stand it may cause significant social unrest in SA. When you start looking into what’s going on, it’s an octopus of arms leading to other places and fights in the world. Don’t worry, though, we have a leader who can’t navigate his way up stairs, so we’ll be fine...

I wonder if this was akin to a Pearl Harbor or 9/11 situation: were the signals about these attacks honestly missed, or were they intentionally overlooked so that Hamas’s incursion would provide Israel the casus belli needed to crush Hamas completely?

(What is honestly shocking to me is just how many Israeli civilians apparently lack firearms of their own.)

Yeah, I’m not buying it either.

It’s the oldest trick in war to arrange for, tolerate, or execute some incoming losses to justify a new offensive.

Somebody trained them, somewhere.
These attacks take rehearsals.
Somebody equipped them.
Somebody provided ongoing intelligence, communications, jamming , and battle management…

All under extreme OPSEC.

Somebody knew this attack would, in the end, be symbolic and a psychological victory, not a military conquest. And that the cost would be the destruction of Hamas physically and morally as a political force of governance, and a stain on all Palestinians due to the atrocities committed. Only the most brain dead, historically ignorant, Jew hating people of the world will morally equivocate or celebrate this.

Somebody knew they would be exposed.

So ….cui bono?

Absent a direct attack by the IAF on Iran, the gloves are still on

You got it spot on. A++

The Mullahs could not tolerate the growing ties between Saudi Arabia and Israel. They had no choice other than a do or die Hamas/Palestinian confrontation.

Now we will see....... will the Arab youth or the old men prevail in going forward.

I’ll bet on the Crown Prince and Bibi

Even more chilling, Biden was negotiating with Iran at the time, then sappily agreed to turn over the $6 billion. What made Biden cave?

Plus Hamas' Taliban buddies have billions in US military materiel Biden left in Afghanistan.......or did Biden have a "reason" for leaving it there?

Biden was attempting to restore the Obama legacy that was destroyed by Donald Trump and the Abram accords. The Hamas assault is death to the Obama legacy

The Trump legacy is a coalition of all the Arabs that matter and Israel into a coalition that is decidedly anti Iran. The Abrams/Negev effort will not only survive but will prevail

Who did they declare war against? Hamas? That is like going after the hitman and not who wrote the contract. DECLARE WAR ON IRAN!

Ukraine has come out vocally backing Israel.

Zelensky Pushing US for Long-term Security Deal Based On ‘Israeli Model’

BY DANIEL BUSH, 8/31/23, newsweek.com

Excerpt-—Ukrainian President Volodymyr said he expects Ukraine and the United States will agree to a security pact that’s similar to the alliance between the U.S. and Israel. The two countries don’t have a defense treaty, but the U.S. provides Israel with billions in military aid and has long been its most important ally.

“We will likely get this exact model,” Zelensky said in an interview Sunday with Ukrainian media, “the Israeli model that includes weapons, technology, training [and] finances.”

Such an arrangement would provide Ukraine less security than membership in NATO, which President Biden has said won’t happen before the end of the war. But it would establish Ukraine as a critical long-term partner for the U.S. in Eastern Europe, while sending Russia the message that Western support for Kyiv won’t waiver.

Congress is required by law to ensure that U.S. military aid in the Middle East region doesn’t damage Israel’s military superiority over its neighbors. That requirement enjoys broad bipartisan support and has served as a benchmark for ensuring Israel receives robust U.S. support.

Something ain’t right about that. They need to look within after they wipe out the terrorists.

I hope they mount a major attack and not give too much time in between to recuperate.
