I will give up my stick shift when they pry it from my cold, dead hand.
A firearm is more effective
Shooting carjackers is A-OK with me
“a carjacker had stolen a vehicle and had to ditch it a few feet away because he couldn’t drive the standard transmission.”
Just another “intelligence failure”, if you will.
Feel good story for a Sunday morning
I have wanted for some time to get something like a 67 Dodge Charger with a 3 on the tree, gather up the high school graduating class and say if you can drive it you can have it...
Lol. I’ve always driven a stick shift. Stopped many people from being able to borrow my car.
Stick by that! As of last week, for the first time in 30 years, I’m not driving a manual. It is BORING as heck. Try going from a 6 speed Tacoma to an Accord!
Do they make electric cars with a stick shift?
You better hope so once they force everyone to buy one.
I used to have a four wheel drive pick up (Ranger) with a stick shift. I would never, ever, lend it, though I did provide freight service for friends on more than one occasion. The Tappet Brothers (Car Talk Hosts) said that if you have a pick up people will want to borrow it or ask for help moving. True.
I do miss my Ranger.
Yes, having a pick-up makes you a popular guy. The first vehicle I bought was a pick-up that had the stick shift on the steering column. I bought it because I had a horse. Otherwise I would have gotten a sports car.
Bought a 6sp Taco in ‘19 put about 5k miles a year. I plan to keep it as long as I can. I just don’t like driving automatic transmission vehicles, there is no fun.
Electric vehicles don’t need to change gears therefore no stock shift.
I have an older VW bug. 4 on the floor.
Pretty safe from being stolen.
That depends on your state. In TX the victim may have gotten by with shooting the perp, but in some other red states the victim may be criminally liable and certainly civil liable.
This is particularly true in a case such as this as the perp was immobilized by his own stupidity for not knowing how to drive a stick shift. Calling 911 and the mere threat of being shot should have done the trick.
They will really have a problem when they try to find Reverse.
Doesn’t matter to me.
Electric cars don’t require multi-speed transmissions because of the
so-called “engine” in an electric car, an electric motor. While internal
combustion engines require multiple gears with different ratios for
power output, electric motors produce a consistent amount of torque
at any given RPM within a specific range.
