The LORD threw them into confusion before Israel, so Joshua and the Israelites defeated them completely at Gibeon. Israel pursued them along the road going up to Beth Horon and cut them down all the way to Azekah and Makkedah.

Exodus 23:27, the LORD promised the Israelites, “I will send My fear before you, I will cause confusion among all the people to whom you come, and will make all your enemies turn their backs to you” (New King James Version).

“But the LORD your God will hand them over to you. He will throw them into complete confusion until they are destroyed. He will put their kings in your power, and you will erase their names from the face of the earth. No one will be able to stand against you, and you will destroy them all” (New Living Translation).

“Just as Samuel was sacrificing the burnt offering, the Philistines arrived for battle. But the LORD spoke with a mighty voice of thunder from heaven, and the Philistines were thrown into such confusion that the Israelites defeated them. The men of Israel chased them from Mizpah to Beth-car, slaughtering them all along the way” (New Living Translation).

The Bible says, “Rise up, O LORD! Let Your enemies be scattered, and let those who hate You flee before You” (Numbers 10:35 New King James Version). Psalm 68:1 says a similar thing, “Let God arise, Let His enemies be scattered; let those also who hate Him flee before Him” (New King James Version).

Chronicles 32:21 says, “And the LORD sent an angel who destroyed the Assyrian army with all its commanders and officers.

“But the LORD is with me as a mighty, awesome One. Therefore my persecutors will stumble, and will not prevail. They will be greatly ashamed, for they will not prosper. Their everlasting confusion will never be forgotten” (Jeremiah 20:11 New King James Version).
