These Are the Republicans Who Could Be The Next Speaker of the House
Katie Couric Media ^ | October 4, 2023 | Tess Bonn

House Republicans are rushing to elect a new speaker after GOP Rep. Kevin McCarthy was dramatically ousted from his position on Tuesday in an unprecedented move. (For the record, he was the first speaker to ever be removed with a vote.)

...

Majority Leader Steve Scalise

As the new top-ranking House Republican, Steve Scalise is the most obvious choice to replace McCarthy, and he has already officially thrown his hat into the ring.

...

Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan

Jim Jordan was one of the House Republicans who defended McCarthy both ahead of and during the vote that ultimately ousted him. But now, Jordan’s hoping to be considered for the position.

...

Oklahoma Rep. Kevin Hern

Kevin Hern was initially nominated for the speakership in January by far-right GOP Rep. Lauren Boebert, who praised him as a “true consensus candidate.”

...

Florida Rep. Byron Donalds

GOP Rep. Andy Harris said on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, that he would like to see Rep. Byron Donalds as Speaker.

Any Speaker will be in a precarious position. One disagreement with Gaetz, and Gaetz and 6 or 7 Repubs can run to the Dems and have the Speaker thrown out.

“I don’t want Scalise, and I think Donalds is a real stretch. He’d mainly be a token black dude in that position, since he was only elected in 2020 and needs more seasoning to take any kind of leadership role.”

Donalds is no token. If you have ever heard him, his is very knowledgable on a host of issues and articulate. He is 100% Conservative. He doesn’t hesitate to strongly make his points. He is forceful and thoughtful. I don’t know who will win but I hope it is Donalds.

Oh Happy Happy Joy Joy
Oh yeah, then the Uniparty can spend the next 13 months bragging & campaigning about their “First Africanamerican” Speaker of the House. Until the Democrats win the House again in November.

He thought, based on Nancy Pelosi’s support, democrats would protect his position. I think he chose poorly.

The Democrats probably told him that if he made this deal to prevent the shutdown, they'll protect him from a challenge by Matt Gaetz. Guess what? They didn't do that. But that's on McCarthy. He got snakebit in the swamp.

Levin followed with a softball short interview of Tim Scott. He called out Scott a while back but has been more favorable lately.

Scott’s speaking style changed. He’s more animated, but sounds like a preacher.

I go back to Levin’s first broadcasts (Sunday afternoon?) and always thought he was good. I’ve been listening to Jesse Kelly more lately. Wonder if Levin has lost some of his fastball.

If they want a non-member who can unite Republicans, maybe they should go to Long Island and talk to Lee Zeldin.

True. I’d love to see the mental gymnastics the Democrats would have to do to explain why Republican putting in a black Speaker was racist.

Democrats view blacks as property — their property. They view black Republicans as stolen property.

Yes, I heard Zelden mentioned at least once today. Don’t recall much about him, his experience, and so forth. But maybe he is a good alternative?

The only ones likely to get 216 votes are Scalise, Emmer or maybe Stephanik.

Yeah, the way these unhinged “commentators” are acting over the removal of McCarthy is quite telling. They’re not on our side.

I thought Gaetz’s plan was to remove a worthless RINO Speaker doing the bidding of the Demonrats and the Pedophile in the White House.

Mission accomplished.

Gaetz, a lowly backbencher, did more for the Republican Conservative patriot base in playing the entire Demonrat caucus to enact our agenda than any Republican leader has done in 30 years.

—”Gaetz, a lowly backbencher”

That much is correct.

Does Gaetz lead any sizeable faction beyond his gang of 8?

The gang of 8 mostly have run off to their hideout, not pressing for a new pure conservative speaker.

Now that the Dems and MSM have what they want, he is gone, perhaps they can use him for another exploit at a later date.

“A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear.”
― Taylor Caldwell, A Pillar of Iron

I would say Gaetz just tricked the Demonrats into dumping their own RINO puppet Speaker. Why aren’t you celebrating ? Kevin was a dunce. Another Derp State apparatchik. Gaetz has apparently endorsed Jim Jordan.

If you think getting rid of McCarthy is “treasonous”, you’re no Conservative. That’s the talking point of the media loons.
