I remember the horrible things they said about Reagan. I lived through them. These people are full of sh*t
That's really the meat of the matter. USA 2023 is vastly different (and worse off in many ways) than USA 1983. The opposition Dems of 1983 were still lefty tools, but had some level of constraint and desire to support Ameria that frankly doesn't exist in the left today. The social fabric and societal standards of 1983 made many things unthinkable then which are sadly accepted openly now. The GOP of 1983 was rather different than the GOP of 2023 because the nation is so much different now.
Either you were too young have experienced 1980 or you were under a rock.
Reagan was MAGA enough to bring the USSR to its knees.
the long-term effects of affirmative action ...
But what Trump doesn’t seem to understand is THE CONSTITUTION CREATED AMERICA!
America created the Constitution.
We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
"All of us need to be reminded that the Federal Government did not create the States; the States created the Federal Government." ~ Ronald Reagan.
The Constitution created a new Federal government, it did not create the United States.
I love how the GOPe/RINO crowd is invoking Reagan. It’s a hoot.
Back in the day they were known as Country Clubers. And they HATED Reagan. They did everything they could to block him. Including running a third party candidate. They despised him.
Now they claim him?!?
Horse poop.
“The bankerz run the borders”
Shhh. You’re not supposed to say anything bad about the bankers.
The world is a very different place now than it was in the 1980s. Some of the major changes - like the unabashed triumph of the West in the Cold War and the fall of Communism is in large part due to Ronaldus Magnus.
Also in Reagan’s day, we still had an industrial base.
The massive flood of foreigners had not yet invaded the country.
Liberals (not Leftists but Liberals) believed in free speech and personal liberty. They were against authoritarian federal law enforcement and intelligence agencies.
In Reagan’s day we stayed out of stupid foreign wars that were not vital to our national security. (Grenada was a 2-3 day exercise).
In Reagan’s day we did not have a 2 tiered legal system - even in majority Democrat jurisdictions.
In Reagan’s day we did not have a titanic national debt well in excess of 100% of GDP.
So Reagan’s policies were quite different. Those were different times.
Gun control. Both at the State and Federal level.
David Gergen. Americas Talleyrand. Willing to serve any politician that will feed him.
“maybe if Reagan had MAGAed harder we would have been better off.”
Yes. That amnesty situation was a stinker.
You can bet he was smiling when Trump was in office.
Reagan would NEVER recognize DEMOCRATS TODAY, AND HOW EVIL THEY ARE!
Well, the Constitution created the United States of America. Before the Constitution, there was no United States of America (we were a bunch of independent colonies vulnerable to foreign attack). It also created the Federal Government and delegated certain LIMITED and enumerated powers to the feds, mostly in Art. I, Sec. 8.
As the Ninth and Tenth Amendments explain (which few actually read and understand), with the exception of the limited powers delegated by the states to the feds, the states remained sovereign and the people of those states free.
The Constitution created the Free Constitutional Republic of the America.
And that’s a fact Jack.

What a ridiculous thing to say. Those "vulnerable" states just whipped ass on ( at the time ) one of the world's superpowers.
THe US Constitution created the Federal Govt. Also, there is nothing in it prohibiting unilateral state secession.
Mitt, take Article 1 Section 8 of the Constitution and a copy of the United States code and all the federal regulations. Then cut out of the last two anything not directly ordered by the first. Then go back through again and cut out anything you claimed to be allowed based on Wickard v. Filburn's obscenely broad interpretation of the Commerce Clause. And don't get the paper wet from all of your laws you had to cut out.
There are probably only a handful of Congressional Republicans who believe in the Constitution that way, and absolutely zero Democrats.
