CHICAGO — The city of Chicago released surveillance camera footage Tuesday of an anti-violence “peacekeeper” participating in the violent beating and robbery of a driver in Little Village on May 26.
CWBChicago requested the video through a freedom of information request on May 30, but the Office of Emergency Management and Communications refused to supply the footage, claiming that its release would, among other things, violate the 1996 Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.
We took the matter to the Illinois Attorney General’s office, and the city decided to comply with the law yesterday.
Leading into the Memorial Day weekend, state and city leaders hailed the deployment of dozens of yellow-vested “peacekeepers” as an important tactic to tamp down violence.
The holiday weekend was barely underway before one of those “peacekeepers” unleashed some not-so-peaceful behavior as the city’s surveillance camera rolled nearby.

At this point the residents of Chicago deserve everything that’s happening.
No sympathy here.

Agree...I’ll eat my popcorn, drink a beer...and have a chuckle as these idiots get everything they voted for...
These “peacekeepers” are, for the most part, gang bangers themselves. They usually say they are “former” gang members, and thus they can act as ambassadors between the authorities and the gangs. But they’re still gang members, just ones who have graduated from standing on the street corner all day to a higher position.
Moooove!!! But stay in Illinois with your shi$$y voting habits
It’s moving to the small towns already?
Do I need to look?
They’re piece keepers, as in “I want a piece of this.”
It’s a long story, but I knew a “peacekeeper” for many years (not in Chicago).
This guy was careful to show results, but not excellent results. Because excellent results meant that the problem was solved, and he wouldn’t be needed anymore.
And all the while he was collecting donations, grants, and public acclaim.
Don’t get me wrong. I am quite certain there are many noble people trying to stop the violence. But mixed among them are plenty of grifters.
So if I were to beat the crap out of a piece of crap hoodlum, would I get a pass for mishandling my stress? These new catch-phrases Democrats use must be in their playbook for avoiding jail time. Assault & Battery now defined as "Mishandling Stress".
Using your logic, you deserve everything that is happening because Brandon was elected President.
There are some good people in Chicago that don’t deserve.
“ Using your logic, you deserve everything that is happening because Brandon was elected President.”
Hardly. Chicago is 100% solid Dem. It has been for half a century. There’s not a single elected Republican in office and hasn’t been since the 1930s. The City Council is 100% Democrat. The County Board is 100% Democrat.
So it’s your logic that’s flawed.

Chicago has been ground zero for voter fraud for generations. You don't get those kind of majorities by simple voting patterns. Don't discount the number of people being held hostage to an illegitimate minority.
Just like the gangs of illegals attacking upscale houses now will move to not so upscale houses right after the upscale residents start hiring armed security to protect their upscale houses.
Ha!!! Another successful liberal idea
Your logic is warped.
It’s sad. Sort of like puppies being run over in the street don’t deserve it. At this point in time for good people in Chicago, though, evolution is working itself out.
Sorry pgyanke, that reply wasn’t meant for you.
Doesn’t mean there are no republican or conservative residents of Chicago because dems held sway for some time. Your logic says conservative citizens deserve it.
Your logic is warped.
“Doesn’t mean there are no republican or conservative residents of Chicago because dems held sway for some time.”
It’s been 90 years since any Republican had power in Chicago. Damned near a century. If the residents of Chicago wanted change they’d have change.
